Owner, Licensed Esthetician + Certified Permanent Makeup Artist

I am the Esthetician and Permanent Makeup Artist behind the DorethaJames brand. Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, I had the pleasure of living in New York, Los Angeles, Miami and now Maryland; soaking up the culture, connections, environment, and beauty trends.

After obtaining my Bachelor Degree in Fashion Merchandising with a focus in Small Business Management, I moved to New York for a summer Fashion Design internship in SoHo. While living in New York, I experienced the true meaning of "hustle". Shortly after my internship, I got an opportunity to work in corporate Fashion in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. Los Angeles served as a great city for my personal and creative development. After giving 6 years of my life to Los Angeles, I relocated to Miami where I transitioned into Higher Education/Admissions. In the field of Admissions, I helped guide students through their career goals. Eventually leading me to challenge myself to pursue an interest that I had postponed for years.

In 2018, I took a leap of faith by jumping into the world of lash extensions; completing a thorough training and building clientele. Since then, I have been growing my scope of reach through obtaining my license as an Esthetician and adding Certified Permanent Makeup Artist to my resume. Developing my beauty-based business has become a passion of mine. I am honored to have the opportunity to be a moment of positivity/uplifting for men and women on a daily basis. The goal of DorethaJames Esthetics is to turn what is most regarded as a vain and surface-level industry into a work of compassion, art, and positive reassurance.
